A failed wall at the Wilmington Historic society presented challenges to rebuild. There were a town ditch with sewer lines and water lines under the wall. And the historic trees had grown under and around the wall. Here is the end result.
One of our passions is building large retaining walls that add character and beauty to the landscape. This large retaining wall is here to support a large entertaining patio, with low voltage lighting for entertaining at all hours of the day. If you have a need for a large retaining wall, consider a stylish strong supportive retaining wall over an excavator boulder wall, or block wall. You will be happy you did.
Town of Rowe had a liability with their access so they called Vermont Stonework. We removed the existing wall, built and extended the staircase, supported by retaining walls on either side. The end result was a safe and comfortable access to the library for the public.
In this fireplace the chimney was a retrofit that other masons said couldn't be done. We cut the foundation, installed footings, built a 24ft stone chimney, hearth and fireplace. Stone is what we do. Pictured is the interior surround with natural local fieldstone.

To get there we added 75ft of stepping stones from the driveway, and 40ft of steps up the hillside from the home. Pictured is the firepit area and firepit.

We added a 12x12 pergola, wrapped the posts with natural stone, lighting and a privacy fence was added completely transforming what was an unusable wet area into a wonderful entertainment area or backyard living area.
This patio is raised from a babbling brook, this is the top view of the patio with cable railing, and ipe wood handrail. This patio was raised over 10ft from the brook below with stone retaining wall supporting it, concrete drains installed serve to alleviate water off the roof.
On this project we were asked to create a 200ft long retaining wall from scratch, with multiple curves to accent the property. At the apex of this curve, this retaining wall is over 9ft tall and highlights a large mature maple at the center. The project itself incuded this retaining walls, multiple layer of stone steps, other multiple levels of retaining walls, patio areas, firepit, new driveway. Our team offers full one contractor landscape installations from excavating to softscapes

This project was a design build project. The client asked for an outdoor entertaining area. Results: two-tiered patio area. The main patio area includes a firepit and firepit seating area. To the left there is a separate area for entertaining, that also leads to the lower entrance of the home and the parking area, which is bordered by granite curb, and outlined by a beautiful, curved retaining wall. Exit this patio to the lower lawn via stone steps, or the hot tub area above via curved stone steps. From the upper patio there isa easy access all the way around the hot tub and a wood/composite staircase to the upper deck. All this surrounded by beautiful softscapes. All light with low voltage lighting for nighttime use and ambience.
